Folk Music Festival!

e begin by telling you about the Malmö Folk Festival October 17-20. Then the city is filled with folk music and world music from Malmö, Sweden and the whole world. During the days, organizers, concert halls, music institutions, the music college, student associations, and organizations of various kinds come together to create four days of concerts, dance floors, courses, jam sessions, workshops, family concerts and more.
The festival takes place at various locations around Malmö. Some program points are free and others require a ticket.

Aniara is performed at Skånes Dansteater. Harry Martinson’s classic poem epic as a dance and theater experience with Skånes Dansteater and Moomsteatern. It is based on the Swedish author and Nobel laureate Harry Martinson’s book of the same name. The show premieres on October 18 and runs until November 24, 2024.

For those who are a little more scientifically inclined, Astronomy Day and Night is arranged at Malmö museums, the House of Technology and Maritime Affairs on October 19 at 11:15-15:30.
It is a national space festival with events throughout the country and is organized annually by the Swedish Astronomical Society. This year’s theme is Man in Space. Malmö museum offers a variety of exciting activities such as a viewing in the Tycho Brahe exhibition, the theater performance Rymdresan, and a creative workshop where you can build your own rocket out of paper and then launch it outdoors on the museum’s launch pad.
In Malmö Wisdome, the film BIG is shown in 3D – where the visitor gets to go on a journey further into space than any other human has been. Please note that a ticket is required for Malmö Wisdome.

Who is Sweden’s strongest man? It will be revealed at the Slagthuset on October 19 at 11:30-13:00 when the country’s strongest athletes come to Malmö to decide just that. Fab Story – re:write the rules of fashion is a Second Hand Fashion Show and Slow Fashion Market at Story Hotel Studio. Take part in a lecture, shop sustainably and check out the fashion show. Note that parts of the arrangement are free, otherwise payment is made on the spot. The arrangement takes place in collaboration with FAB Collective.

Autumn market at Jägersro Center 19-20 October at 11:00-16:00. Find local works and other pleasant things among exciting exhibitors. In addition, autumn activities are offered for all ages as well as autumn crafts for the little ones. For those who want to learn how to make their own autumn wreath, a workshop is offered. Saturday, October 19, there is also an Open House at the district court from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Visitors are offered court games, lectures, viewing of halls, quizzes and information about the district court as an employer.
