This is an eventful week with plenty of activities, and it also marks the start of many of the summer events in Malmö.

Summer in Malmö

9 June – 11 August: SVT’s Sommarlov Recordings in Beijers Park

The recordings of Sommarlov begin in Beijers Park. The program is recorded on weekdays between 9:00 AM and 10:00 AM. Please arrive on time, especially on Tuesdays when guest artists are performing.

Umbrellas, parasols, and chairs are not permitted at the recording site. However, feel free to bring a sun hat or cap, as it can become very warm. Sitting on a blanket or seat cushion is recommended.

13 June – 2 August: Sommarkaj

During the summer, Beijerskajen and Skeppsbrokajen are transformed into vibrant waterfront destinations known as Sommarkaj.

Visitors can enjoy art installations, dance performances, maritime workshops, quizzes, and shows. There is also an exciting playground, and games and rowing boats can be borrowed free of charge from the lending hut at Beijerskajen.

The lending hut opens on 12 June and is open daily from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM.

The Sommarkaj area is furnished from 15 May to 30 September, while the activity program and free lending of games and rowing boats run from 12 June to 2 August.

13 June – 2 August: Sommarscen Malmö Celebrates 20 Years

Sommarscen Malmö celebrates its 20th anniversary with a wide range of events across more than 40 venues throughout the city.

Highlights include:

  • Karaoke in the Park
  • RnB Out Loud!
  • Underwater worlds
  • K-pop
  • French disco music
  • Magic shows
  • A large children’s programme

Sommarscen opens on Saturday, 13 June, with the Malmö Symphony Orchestra performing at Pildammsteatern at 7:00 PM. The orchestra will also perform on Sunday, 14 June, at the same venue and time.

All events are free of charge. No advance booking is available, so arriving early is recommended.

Exhibitions

The Sound Of – Moderna Museet Malmö

With the exhibition The Sound Of, Moderna Museet Malmö and Museet for Samtidskunst Roskilde draw attention to the increasingly important role of sound in contemporary art.

Through a collaboration spanning Malmö, Roskilde, and Frederiksberg, eleven international artists explore the poetic, spatial, and political possibilities of sound through installations, video works, performances, and text-based pieces.

Reason, Refinement and Transformation – Katrinetorp Manor

This summer exhibition at Katrinetorp Manor runs from 11 June to 6 September and explores Sweden during the 18th century.

The 1700s were a period of significant change in Swedish history, characterized by new ideas, social transformation, and changing lifestyles.

12–18 June 2026: Malmö Meets (Malmö Möts)

Malmö Möts is a week dedicated to democracy, bringing people together to focus on democratic values and explore the future.

Between 12 and 18 June, Malmö will host conversations, activities, and experiences across parks, shopping centres, universities, libraries, and community meeting places throughout the city.

12 June: Summer Block Party

A celebration of Malmö taking place around Södra Varvsbassängen, featuring live music, guided tours, workshops, exhibitions, and much more.
