The new year continues with a wide range of events.

We begin by reminding you of the European Men’s Handball Championship / EHF EURO 2026, which kicks off in Malmö this Friday, 16 January.
Two weeks of handball celebrations await Malmö, with matches played at Malmö Arena.
During the EHF EURO 2026, Lilla Torg will be transformed into the city’s official Fan Zone – a vibrant meeting place for handball fans from all over Europe. Visitors can enjoy activities, community spirit, and a true championship atmosphere right in the heart of Malmö.
The Fan Zone offers fun activities for all ages, such as speed shooting, handball target practice, and face painting. At the same time, the square’s restaurants and cafés create a welcoming setting. On weekends, there is an extra focus on family-friendly activities.

On Saturday, 17 January, from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Lilla Cityfesten takes place at Caroli Shopping Centre.
The day offers lots of fun activities and events for children, such as mini-games, face painting, and a fishing pond. Elsa from Frozen will also be visiting.

Winterland in Folkets Park remains open until 1 February.
In addition to the ice rink being open, a number of other activities take place this week:

  • 14 January, 6:00–8:00 PM – “Folkets Puck”: Whether experienced or a beginner, everyone aged 16 and over who wants to try ice hockey is welcome.

  • 17 January, 10:00 AM–12:00 PM – Figure skating for the whole family. On Saturdays, you can learn the basics of spins and other tricks.

  • 17 January, 1:00–1:30 PM and 2:00–2:30 PM – Music with the Ice Orchestra. Sing along, meet the snowman, and rock out to winter rock music.

  • 17 January, 1:00–1:30 PM and 2:00–2:30 PM – Sing-along with the Northern Lights Girls. A playful, wintry music session for children aged 0–6.

  • 18 January, 10:00–11:00 AM – “Funkis Hour” at the small ice rink. A calm and supportive skating hour for children and young people who need extra peace and assistance.

  • 18 January, 10:00–10:30 AM and 2:30–3:00 PM – Storytime with Funny’s Adventures. Every Sunday, Pettson and Findus read aloud from their adventures, such as Pancake Cake, The Fox Hunt, and Pettson Gets a Christmas Visit. After the storytime, children can meet Pettson or Findus.

  • 18 January, 11:00 AM–1:00 PM – Every Sunday, children can enjoy a short pony ride in Folkets Park with ponies from Malmö Riding Club.
