We’re kicking off the year in Malmö, where the Handball European Championship / EHF EURO 2026 begins on 16 January. There are four host cities across three countries:
Sweden: Malmö and Kristianstad, Norway: Oslo, and Denmark: Herning.
In Malmö, Sweden, Croatia, the Netherlands, and Georgia will face each other in six group stage matches from 17–21 January, followed by the main round from 23–28 January. The finals will be played in Herning, Denmark, and we can look forward to two full weeks of handball festivities in Malmö, with all matches taking place at Malmö Arena.
Fanzone at Lilla Torg
During EHF EURO 2026, Lilla Torg will be transformed into the city’s official Fanzone – a vibrant meeting place for handball fans from all over Europe. Expect activities, community, and championship atmosphere right in the heart of central Malmö. The Fanzone offers fun for all ages, including speed shooting, handball target challenges, and face painting, all framed by the square’s restaurants and cafés. On weekends, the focus will be on family-friendly activities.

Today, 5 January, Winter Pride takes place at Moriskan.
Tomorrow, 6 January, is the final day of Vinterspelen (Winter Games), held at Vintergatan 16 in the Nyhamnen district.
On 7 January, Svenska Revyn premieres at Slagthuset, featuring Henrik Dorsin, Johan Glans, and Vanna Rosenberg. The show runs until 24 January.
Vinterland continues throughout January in Folkets Park – don’t forget that ice skates can be borrowed for free.
